OEM CertEngine and propulsion manufacturer certification programs β Mercury University, Yamaha Marine University, Volvo Penta Academy, Yanmar β required to perform warranty work and access factory diagnostics.
- Who needs it
- Any technician at a dealer who works on that brand. Required for warranty submission and factory technical support.
- How to get it
- Hired at a dealer, sponsored by the dealer, attend factory training (usually 1β4 weeks at the manufacturer's training center). Online modules + in-person practical. Recertify every 1β3 years.
- Cost
- Free to the technician β paid by the dealer in exchange for a 1β2 year work commitment (clawback if you leave early).
