MA Backflow Prevention Tester / Installer
BackflowCertification to install and annually test backflow prevention devices on potable water systems in MA. Required by most water departments.

- Journeyman and master plumbers who want to bid commercial work or sign annual backflow test contracts.
- How to get it
- Complete an approved 40-hour backflow tester course (Peterson School, NEIWPCC, etc.), then pass the certification exam.
- Cost
- Course + exam: ~$500β$900. Recertification every 2β3 years.
