Who needs it

Every MA restaurant must have allergen-trained staff per the MA Food Allergy Awareness Act. Many spots require it for every back-of-house employee within 30 days of hire.

How to get it

Take a state-approved online course (AllerTrain by MenuTrinfo, ServSafe Allergens, etc.). 60–90 minutes, includes a short exam. Renew every 5 years.

Cost

~$10–$25 online. Many restaurants pay for it.
