EPA Lead RRP Certification (Renovator)

EPA RRP

Federal certification required to disturb painted surfaces in pre-1978 homes (common when cutting walls/floors for plumbing). Protects against lead-paint exposure.

Who needs it
Any plumber who renovates, repairs, or repipes in MA's older housing stock.
How to get it
Complete an 8-hour EPA-approved RRP course. Recertification every 5 years.
Cost
~$200–$300 per renovator. Firm certification adds ~$300.
